Arthur Francis Hull

Seaman 2nd Class, Naval Armed Guard

     Arthur was born the 27th of November 1924 in Claremont, New Hampshire, the second of four children born to Francis and Ida Hull.  He lived in both Marlborough and Southborough and graduated from Plainville High School in Plainville, Connecticut with the class of 1942.

     He enlisted into the Navy Reserve the 27th of February 1942 and was assigned to the 3rd Naval District in New York City on Inactive-Duty.  He was called to Active-Duty the 6th of July 1942.  He received his basic training at Naval Training Station Newport, Rhode Island.  He was next assigned to the Armed Guard School in Little Creek, Virginia the 31st of October 1942.

     While receiving training for service aboard merchant vessels a meningitis outbreak swept through the barracks where Arthur was living. He was transferred to the Naval Hospital at Naval Operating Base Norfolk, Virginia the 25th of November 1942 where he died later in the day. He is buried at the West Cemetery in Plainville, Connecticut.
